Where better to learn the centuries old art of jam making and preservation than in an 800 year old Welsh castle, on our unique and magical ‘Make Your Own: Jam and Chutney’ adventure?
In this class, led by Angharad Underwood, founder of the multi award-winning The Preservation Society, you will learn how to make delicious jam and chutney.
The course is hands-on: you’ll be involved at every stage of the way, cutting fruit, measuring sugar and filling jars. We find this approach is not only much more fun, but helps you really understand each stage of the process, and therefore get the results you want at home. You will also take home the fruits of your labours from our hands on, interactive class!
Our class takes place at the stunning Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. Built in 1180 and set in three acres of beautiful gardens, Fonmon Castle has been owned by only two families in its 800 year history.
On arrival you will be offered coffee or tea with homemade biscuits before heading to the kitchens for the class with Angharad. After the class, we have arranged for you to have a private tour of the castle followed by a beautiful lunch, featuring produce from the garden and near locality.
After lunch, before packing up your goodies, enjoy a stroll in the walled garden and discover all of its secret delights.
